Camp Faculty Itinerary
Friday Concert… Improv Class, Winner of Composition per Class, Chamber Music, and Orchestra
- 9-9:30am – Improv Class
- Get students ready to perform a simple 12 bar blues w some solos (5min total)
- 9:30-10:25am – Music Appreciation (1/2 theory & 1/2 history)
- Theory – staff, clefs, time & key signatures, circle of 5ths, M/m scales, chords, (1, 2, 3, etc), etc
- History
– 1st day – Early/Ancient & Renaissance
– 2nd day – Baroque
– 3rd day – Classical
– 4th day – Romantic
– 5th day – Modern / Contemporary
- 10:30-11:20am – Composition Class (clear guidelines on what to compose on their own instrument)
- 24-32 bars – 4-8 bar phrases
- 4/4 time signature
- favorable key for their instr, ie A maj for violin, etc
- rhythm – whole, half, quarter, 8th notes only
- chords… 1, 4, 5, 7 (one per bar or 2 bars)
- simple melody over chords
- question / answer / transition sections
- * Friday – each student performs their own composition on their own instrument in front of class and winner of the class performs at concert
- 11:20-1pm – Lunch (please keep an eye on kids)
- 12-12:55pm – Group Class
- work on chamber & orch music
- 1-1:55pm – Chamber Music
- get students ready for performance
- 2-3pm – Orchestra / Extra Practice for non orchestral instruments
- 2-3 pieces
*** Friday – all students clean up all rooms, fellowship hall, hallways, etc ***
