About Chicago Summer Music Camp

The Chicago Summer Music Camp is a day camp for students ages 7-18, held at the American Music Institute. Each program combines music education with creativity, performance, and fun. Accordingly, every camp is designed to keep students engaged throughout the summer. All camp classes are general music group classes and non-instrument-specific.

Campers learn from AMI’s award-winning faculty in a positive and supportive environment. As a result, students build a strong musical foundation while developing a lifelong appreciation for music. The curriculum combines music education with hands-on performance experiences. Additionally, campers create, rehearse, and perform music together every day. This collaborative approach builds confidence, creativity, and teamwork.

About Chicago Summer Music Camp

One of the highlights at the camp is that students study music theory and music history from the Baroque period to modern and Pop/Rock styles. Furthermore, they apply what they learn through creative composition projects. Students also write original music and share their work with classmates.

At the end of each day, everyone participates in a performance class. Finally, students have the opportunity to perform their own compositions and learn from one another. This experience encourages musical growth while making music together in a fun and inspiring environment.

Students participate in six (6) exciting, educational, and performance-oriented classes
– Music Appreciation (theory, history)
– Composition
– Group Lessons
– Improv Class
– Chamber Music
– Performance Classes / Orchestra
